So you didn’t go to Journalism School but you want to be an entertainment news reporter? Believe it or not, you can do it!! And Robin Radin’s weekend workshop will teach you some of the most valuable tricks of the trade!

Robin spent ten years as a TV News show producer before making the move to entertainment news, where she worked as a Senior Supervising Producer for Entertainment Tonight and The Insider for four years, before becoming Executive Producer of E! News. Currently a talent consultant, Robin knows exactly what Network Execs are looking for when they go through the hiring process.

Day #1: 
Writing for Television
·      Write your own intro, piece, tag and tease like a pro!
·      Learn the difference between copy for print versus TV
·      How to use the right words to make your story POP!
·      Writing actively versus passively
·      Learn how to get away from the most overused words on television
 
Everything teleprompter
* Use your own to record standups, intros, tags and teases read straight from the prompter
·      Learn how to act and sound natural, enthusiastic and “teasy” without sounding cheesy
·      How to get through a mistake and roll with the punches without starting over
·      How to USE a teleprompter
 
On Camera Reads
·      You’ll get the opportunity to read your own copy as well as several other stories, and get the best tips on how to sound “Newsy” and come off like a pro!
·      Co-host reads – it’s not as easy as you might think! You’ll get a partner and get to learn how to present the news as a team
 
How to do a Live Shot
·      Use your copy to practice “Going Live”
·      Learn how to answer a question even when you don’t have any new information
·      Learn how to wrap it up and toss it back
   
Give a killer interview
·      Use your story to come up with compelling questions you would ask celebrities
·      How to do the “1, 2, 3 punch” (3 soft questions before the hard one)
·      What all TV News bosses expect from your interview
·      How to make the most out of “2 minutes on the red carpet”
·      How to listen (yes, this needs to be learned!)
·      How to ask the perfect follow up questions
·      How to keep your subject from giving one word answers
 
The total package
We’ll take everything you’ve learned and everything you’ve created! At the end, you will leave with 3 or 4 Entertainment News pieces that you can use towards your reel or starting your reel!
