BIOGRAPHY
From Broadway...to Broadcasting! Wendee Lee has enjoyed an adventurous career both on stage and most recently---before the camera---as the Traffic/ Entertainment Reporter and Anchor at KTNV (ABC) in Las Vegas.
Prior to moving to Sin City, Wendee was a "Dancing Queen" in the National Touring company of "Mamma Mia" covering the roles of both Tanya & Rosie. But Wendee happily beat out more than 250 contestants at an open casting call for the position of Traffic Anchor in September 2006. Las Vegas viewers watched and voted Wendee their favorite Traffic reporting candidate. An offer to become KTNV's Entertainment reporter followed shortly thereafter. Her "natural warmth and energy" made Wendee a top choice as a fill-in Anchor for the weekend morning show, "Good Morning Las Vegas" during her time at KTNV.
Career highlights include a recent interview with the "King of Pop's"...Pop, Joseph Jackson for an upcoming documentary about his life.
While in Las Vegas, Wendee landed an exclusive interview with R & B icon Rev. Al Green (complete with a private musical serenade), along with an exclusive invitation to a behind-the-scenes rehearsal with the stellar cast of "Stomp Out Loud".
A little known fact: Wendee auditioned for and was offered a coveted spot in the Vegas cast of "Stomp Out Loud" prior to winning the Traffic Anchor position at KTNV. Ultimately, she accepted an offer to became a member of the cast in May of 2008. What an honor! When it rains, it pours!!
Favorite celebrity interviews include: DWTS Co-Host Samantha Harris and Len Goodman (Judge), Donald Trump, Liza Minelli, Wayne Brady, William Baldwin, Tiffani-Amber Thiessen, EXTRA Co-Hosts Dayna Devon and Mark McGrath, Tim Daly, Joey Lawrence, Dule Hill, George Maloof (Owner - Palms Casino), country music singing duo Montgomery Gentry, Tim Daly, Jerry O'Connell, Kellie Pickler, Tony Danza, "The Bachelor's" Brad Womack, and Vegas icons Frank Marino and Clint Holmes.
Having spent over a decade on the "Great White Way" performing at legendary venues such as Radio City Music Hall, Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall, Wendee has shared the stage with other Broadway performers like two-time Tony award winner Chita Rivera, Bernadette Peters, Tonya Pinkins and Roger Bart---known to many as George Williams on the ABC hit show "Desperate Housewives." She's performed and been featured at events honoring luminaries such as Hillary Clinton, Henry Kissinger, Ann Reinking, Marian Wright Edelman, The Nicholas Brothers and most notably...her hero, Lena Horne.
Her singing and dancing career have taken Wendee around the world many times. Her favorite exotic locales include Kenya, India, The Seychelles Islands, Australia, South Africa, England, Norway, Yemen, Spain and Egypt. She was even performing aboard the Royal Viking Sun when it ran aground in the Red Sea (thus the trip to Egypt). Wendee's love of travel is matched only by her love for animals. While working at KTNV (ABC), Wendee hosted the weekly Nevada SPCA pet segments. During her "down time" she enjoys nothing more than spending quality time horseback riding alongside her daughter, hiking the canyon and romping around the farm. She's a little bit country...who knew??!
Whoopi Goldberg narrated the video "Changing Lives for Good' which profiled the lives of Wendee and her daughter Raven Ariel (ravenariel.com)---highlighting the life-changing help they received from the non-profit organization, "In Motion". That video was featured at a screening at Sotheby's of New York.
Her mother is thrilled to finally see her in the world of broadcasting and believes that her life has come full circle after she received---but declined---an academic scholarship to Syracuse University School of Public Communications. She opted instead to attend Vanderbilt University, after graduating with honors from the High School for the Performing and Visual Arts in Houston, TX.
